Sukkah Soul Blog
August 22 - 4 Elul 5772 – 5 weeks until you put up your Sukkah Soul sukkah after Yom Kippur
Three additional chapters of Psalms are recited each day from 1 Elul to Yom Kippur. The Baal Shem Tov established this custom in the 1700’s. Chapter 11 is one of today’s Psalms.
For the chief Musician, of David.
In the Lord I have put my trust: how can you say to my soul, Flee like a bird to your mountain?
For behold, the wicked bend the bow, they make ready their arrow upon the bowstring, to shoot in darkness at the upright in heart.
For when the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?
The Lord in his holy temple, the Lord whose throne is in heaven, whose eyes behold, whose eyelids try, the children of men:
The Lord tries the righteous, but the wicked and him who loves violence his soul hates.
He will rain down upon the wicked fiery coals and brimstone; a scorching wind will be their allotted portion.
For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteous deeds; the upright will behold his face.
