Many put up sukkahs right after Yom Kippur, October 9.
Influences for the Chuppah and its adaptation as a Sukkah
The SukkahSoul chuppah is influenced by traditional texts and sources renewed with a delicate spiritual energy.
The design is influenced by the Hasidic teacher The Sefat Emet and by the imagery of the Sefirot and Zohar.
The sukkah
is like a chuppah,
according to the Sefat Emet, implying the marriage of man and wife. At the exodus from Egypt Israel was sanctified (‘wedded’) to G*d.
It is also written (in the prayer book) “who spreads out (pores) a sukkah of peace.” But the word pores also means ”to divide” or “to choose a portion,” for “G*d’s portion is the people Israel” (Deut. 32:9).
G*d is wholeness itself. Why then choose a fragment of something? Wherever G*d dwells there is wholeness. G*d makes a whole out of half.
Thus the meaning of “who spreads (pores) a sukkah of peace.” The inner point that is everywhere is wholeness. This is Israel among G*d’s creatures.

Sefirot / Shekhinah / Zohar
Through the language of the Sefirot, G*d is expressed in ten manifestations or emanations, as it were, like kindness, strength and beauty. All of these manifestations have avenues of connection to one another. We imagine these energies in triangles forming triads of relationships. The energy closest to us is the Shekhinah. The Zohar states in Parshat Terumah that one must make a beautiful chuppah out of respect to the Shekhinah that rests there.
Chuppah is also: chupa, hupa, huppah, chupah, chuppa, khuppa, chuppot. wedding canopy
