What is included / What is not included

  • The SukkahSoul sukkah kit includes wood, fabric netting and fabric netting connectors for your sukkah along with directions for assembly. Wood rafters are included. Rafters support your schach.
  • Decorations and roofing material (schach) are not included.
(The schach must be of organic material meaning something that has grown and then detached. Typically people use the following for schach:  branches from trees or bushes, cornstalks, evergreen boughs, bamboo poles or bamboo mats.)

Intended Use for What and for How Long

  • This sukkah is intended to be used for meals and study during Sukkot.  Obviously, it does not provide security for people sleeping inside it.
  • This sukkah is intended as a temporary structure, erected for about 2 weeks of the year during Sukkot.
  • The chuppah is intended to be used for a day or two.

Size of Packages / Delivery Information

  • Your sukkah or chuppah will be delivered in 4 packages, each 8’-5” long and about 6” wide x 5” high.  Each package weighs about 23 lbs. Fabric sides will be delivered in its own lightweight box.
  • Deliveries outside the St. Louis metropolitan area will be delivered by UPS Ground.
  • Local deliveries in the St. Louis metropolitan area will be delivered by a local delivery service.

The Nature of Cedar

  • The cedar is unfinished and does not require sealing.  Cedar naturally turns silver/gray in the weather.  Because the sukkah is outside only 2 weeks of the year, it will take quite a few years for it to turn silver/gray.  Silver/gray is considered visually appealing to many people.  If people want to retain the cedar color, the silver/gray can be sanded off by hand with fine sandpaper.
  • The color of cedar naturally varies and the sukkah or chuppah might have a range of the natural cedar colors.
  • When cedar is initially exposed to direct sunlight, it will lighten a shade. Eventually it will turn silver/gray.

  • The cedar might have knots.  The knots are part of the nature of the wood and are considered visually appealing.
  • The cedar might have checks or small splits and they will not affect its performance.

  • You might receive the sukkah or chuppah with the wood slightly warped.  Slight warping of the wood is not uncommon and will not affect the erection of the sukkah.
  • If the sukkah is left outdoors beyond the recommended 2 weeks, the cedar is at greater risk of rotting.  Please read notes on “Storage of the Sukkah” below.

Storage of the Sukkah or Chuppah

  • You can enjoy your SukkahSoul sukkah year after year when stored properly
  • If the sukkah is left outdoors beyond the recommended 2 weeks, the cedar is at greater risk of rotting.
  • After taking the sukkah or chuppah down, dry it off and let it sit horizontally on a continuous, smooth surface in a dry, protected area to dry out for 4-5 days before covering.

    After it is dry:
    • Store the wood horizontally in a dry, protected area.
    • Horizontal support should be continuous underneath the wood.
    • Cover the wood to protect from dust.
    • Do not cover the wood so it is airtight.
    • Do not stand the wood vertically

Care / Storage of the Fabric Netting

  • If the fabric gets leaves and dirt on it while taking it down, the fabric can be gently hosed.

  • Let fabric dry before storing.  Then fold and store.

  • Store in a dry place on a shelf.  Do not cover fabric so it is airtight.  Do not store in cardboard or plastic.
